Crafting Valor into Every Skull.
From the workshop of William C. Brown, a 24-year law enforcement veteran, comes Skulls of Honor—a tribute to bravery, service, and personal stories. Inspired by the desire to transform challenge coins into something meaningful and memorable, Skulls of Honor encapsulates the spirit of valor within each handcrafted skull, merging artistic expression with the values of honorable service.
Our Inspiration
The idea for Skulls of Honor was born in August 2023 at a law enforcement conference. While handing out challenge coins, I saw disappointment on the faces of fellow officers. The poorly designed coins didn’t live up to the pride and legacy we hold dear. At that moment, I asked myself, “How can I take the worst coin and make it the best?” That thought sparked a journey into resin art, leading to the creation of Skulls of Honor. By embedding these challenge coins in beautifully crafted skulls, I gave life to something that could sit proudly on anyone’s desk—a talking piece representing honor and courage.
The Symbolism of Casings
Each skull is embedded with 83 spent casings, symbolizing the number of counties in Michigan I served throughout my career. Casings represent more than just spent ammunition; they carry the weight of sacrifice, training, and commitment. For those who prefer a custom touch, I offer personalized options, embedding specific numbers of casings to signify years of service or other meaningful milestones.
Protecting the Legacy: The Trademark
Skulls of Honor is more than just an idea—it’s a symbol of pride and legacy within the law enforcement community. Encouraged by friends and supporters, I sought to protect this unique creation by applying for a trademark. In October 2024, the Skulls of Honor trademark was officially approved, securing the value and significance behind each handcrafted skull. This trademark represents more than intellectual property; it stands as a badge of authenticity and honor for every officer who receives one of these distinctive pieces.
Each skull is personalized with the recipient’s badge number, the date of production, and my personal signature, making it a deeply personal tribute to service and dedication.
Our Process
Without giving away trade secrets, I can tell you that creating each Skull of Honor is a meticulous 4-day process. From the moment I begin embedding the coin to the final curing stage, the skull takes shape through careful planning, patience, and skill. The result is a perfect balance between symbolism and craftsmanship.
A Commitment to Give Back
Proceeds from every Skull of Honor sale go towards supporting charitable causes important to law enforcement officers. This project is not just about crafting art—it’s about making a difference in our community, continuing the tradition of service and giving back in a meaningful way.
More Than Art, A Story of Service
Skulls of Honor is not just a product—it’s a personal connection to stories of valor, service, and the brotherhood of law enforcement. When someone sees one of these skulls, they see more than resin and casings—they see a story. A story of sacrifice, dedication, and pride.
